This life is a test...in a university.

Neal A. Maxwell, one of my favorite apostles to quote, said, "“Life is a test, and we are being tested to see if we will be worthy of the highest degree of glory in the celestial kingdom.”

As I have reflected on the fact that this life is a test, I came to a conclusion. Maybe this might help others to understand our purpose here on this earth, or maybe it's just for me to understand an infinite concept with my finite mind.

But I digress.

I have decided to elaborate on Elder Maxwell's quote. Not only is this life a test, but we are actively students, choosing which university or school of thought we will attend as students. These "universities" are different churches, different faiths, different ideologies. We choose where we want to attend, and in order to get our degree in where we ultimately want to go in the eternities, we fulfill our requirements to graduate.

If we want to be like Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, and want to live with them and our loved ones forever, we should join the "university" of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, because in this church, we receive all of the ordinances and make all of the covenants that are necessary to fulfill the requirements for eternal life. It is as simple as that.

If that is not where you want to go to get your degree, you will choose to go elsewhere. And that's what makes Heavenly Father great. He gives us the power of choice. Because He wants us to ultimately decide who we want to be, and where we want to go.

So, why choose The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints? I think of it this way: there are no other churches that contain all the saving ordinances of the gospel in order to be exalted. The priesthood is the authority from God to perform said ordinances, and priesthood authority is also found in this church. All of the relevant books we need to study to become like God, is found in this church. And so on and so on.

So, really, going back to Elder Maxwell's quote...this life is a test, and you get to decide what university offers that test to you, and if it's the best choice for your ultimate goal for eternal salvation.
